Hookwave
First Person Platformer | PC | Unreal Engine 4 | School Project | 3 weeks | 2022

This level allows to test every movement of the player : jump height and lenght, the hook, the bump...

The tutorial level is cut into blocks, each block is the tutorial of one mechanic. It makes it easier to change the level if needed.

Pitch

Hookwave is a first person platformer where you need to run through levels as fast as possible. To succeed in this mission, the players can use a hook and a bump to grab to walls or use multiple jumps in the air.

Project Description

For my second year at IIM, I had to make a first person game on Unreal Engine 4 with a group of 5 people, plus one music artist we recruited to help us.
Under the impulse of a programmer of the group, we thought about a game centered around a grappling hook. We then came up with the idea of the "bump" to offer complete control in the air, one mechanic drags you toward walls and the other pushes you out. We naturally gravitated toward a platformer with emphasis on speed and time attack.
